WORKSHOPS AND SPRINTS

Move important work forward, together

Focused, expertly facilitated engagements that turn complex challenges into shared understanding, clear decisions, tangible outputs, and a practical path forward.

Why work gets stuck

Another meeting will not solve it

Important work often stalls when the challenge crosses teams, perspectives, or areas of expertise.

Conversations repeat without producing a decision. Leaders agree on the ambition but not the path. Teams generate ideas without evaluating them. Customer needs, technical constraints, and business priorities compete for attention. The people needed to make progress rarely have a productive structure for working through the problem together.

What we can work on

Focused engagements for meaningful challenges

Our workshops and sprints span five connected areas. Each begins with a type of challenge, not a predetermined package.

01 · Establish direction

Strategy and Alignment

Bring leaders and teams together to establish direction, make deliberate choices, and align around what matters most.

Representative work: Product vision, strategy, principles, objectives, prioritization, portfolio decisions, future scenarios, leadership alignment, or initiative planning.

Progress it can create: A structured environment in which different perspectives can be heard, assumptions can be challenged, and the group can move toward a shared position.

02 · Assumption to evidence

Product Discovery and Validation

Move an idea, opportunity, product, or service from assumption toward evidence.

Representative work: Problem framing, Jobs to Be Done, opportunity mapping, customer research, assumption mapping, value-proposition design, concept development, rapid prototyping, customer testing, and experiment planning.

Progress it can create: Evidence for the decision the team needs to make, through a proven Design Sprint format or a custom sequence of activities.

03 · A more coherent service

Customer Experience and Service Design

Understand how people experience your organization and identify opportunities to create a more coherent service.

Representative work: Customer journey mapping, service blueprinting, ecosystem mapping, experience-principles workshops, customer lifecycle analysis, and current-state and future-state service design.

Progress it can create: A connection between what the customer experiences and the teams, technologies, processes, policies, and decisions operating behind the scenes.

04 · A responsible path

AI Opportunities and Workflows

Identify where AI can create meaningful value and redesign work around the complementary strengths of people and intelligent systems.

Representative work: Opportunity discovery, use-case prioritization, workflow mapping, agentic system design, context and knowledge mapping, human and agent responsibility definition, governance scenarios, and prototype planning.

Progress it can create: Not as many AI ideas as possible, but a valuable opportunity, an understanding of the work involved, and a responsible path toward testing or implementation.

05 · Better ways of working

Operating Models and Systems

Help cross-functional groups understand complex organizational or technical systems and design better ways of working.

Representative work: Product, Design, or AI operating models, organizational responsibilities, decision rights, team structures, value streams, design systems, research operations, business domains, technical capabilities, or organizational dependencies.

Progress it can create: A better decision, using methods such as EventStorming, domain mapping, capability mapping, or Wardley Mapping when they are the right way to understand the challenge.

Start with the outcome

Designed around the outcome, not the template

Intentful does not begin by selecting a fashionable workshop format and forcing your problem into it. We begin with the outcome.

01

The outcome

What needs to be understood?

What decision must be made?

What uncertainty needs to be reduced?

Who needs to contribute?

What tangible result would allow the work to move forward?

02

The context

The organization

The participants

The challenge

The available evidence

The level of maturity

03

The engagement

Research

Facilitation

Mapping

Strategic exercises

Concept development

Prototyping

Testing

Synthesis

Combined as the outcome requires.

Proven methods provide useful structure, but they are tools rather than rigid recipes.

Every workshop is adapted to the organization, participants, challenge, available evidence, and level of maturity.

How an engagement works

More than time in a room

Successful workshops depend on what happens before and after the facilitated session.

Before the session

01

Define the Outcome

We work with the sponsor to establish the central challenge, the decisions that need to be made, and what a useful result should look like.

02

Prepare the Work

We gather relevant context, review existing materials, speak with key participants when needed, and design the agenda around the people and evidence required.

Together

03

Facilitate the Sessions

We guide the group through a structured sequence of activities, create space for different perspectives, challenge assumptions, manage difficult conversations, and maintain momentum toward the intended outcome.

After the session

04

Synthesize the Results

We turn conversations, workshop boards, maps, research, and decisions into a clear and useful artifact.

05

Create the Path Forward

We document decisions, identify open questions, establish next steps, and clarify the ownership needed to carry the work into action.

Formats

Flexible formats built around the work

Workshops and sprints can be delivered remotely, on location, or through a hybrid format.

Remote

On location

Hybrid

Facilitated session day

Possible additional session day

Preparation, interviews, research, prototyping, testing, and synthesis

One-Day Workshop

One facilitated day

Best suited to a focused decision, alignment challenge, prioritization exercise, mapping activity, or clearly defined strategic question.

Two to Three-Day Intensive

Two to three facilitated days

Appropriate for more complex strategy, service design, workflow redesign, operating-model, or cross-functional challenges.

Four to Five-Day Sprint

Four to five facilitated days

Designed for work that moves through several stages, such as discovery, concept development, prototyping, testing, and decision-making.

Multi-Week Sprint Engagement

One to three weeks, with one to five session days

The facilitated sessions may take place over one to five days, while the complete engagement spans one to three weeks to allow for preparation, interviews, research, prototyping, testing, and synthesis.

Each mark is one working day; the track shows three weeks. Session days are illustrative.

The format is selected based on the outcome and the work required, not an arbitrary number of workshop days.

What you leave with

Practical work with tangible outputs

Every engagement concludes with something the organization can use.

Depending on the challenge, practical outputs may include:

01

Direction and decisions

A shared product, service, or experience vision

Documented strategic choices and trade-offs

Product principles or decision criteria

A prioritized portfolio of opportunities

Documented decisions, responsibilities, and ownership

02

Customer and product understanding

Research findings and customer insights

A value proposition or Jobs to Be Done model

A customer journey or service blueprint

03

Concepts and systems

A tested concept or prototype

A redesigned human and AI workflow

An agentic-system concept

A domain, capability, value-stream, or Wardley map

A clearer operating model

04

Action and continuation

A focused action plan

An experimentation or implementation roadmap

The final output is designed to preserve the thinking behind the work so the team can act on it, communicate it, and continue developing it after the engagement.

Is this right for you?

When a workshop or sprint can help

Workshops and Sprints may be a good fit when:

An important decision has stalled

Leaders or teams are working from different assumptions

A strategy exists but lacks shared understanding

Too many opportunities are competing for limited attention

A product or service idea needs evidence before further investment

A customer journey crosses teams that rarely work together

A complex workflow needs to be understood or redesigned

An AI opportunity needs to move from enthusiasm to practical definition

Business and technical teams need a shared understanding of a domain

A planning session needs to produce more than discussion

An initiative needs a clear, credible next step

An independent facilitator would help participants contribute more effectively

Turn discussion into meaningful progress

Depending on the challenge, an engagement can move work from

Uncertainty

Shared understanding

Competing perspectives

A clear decision

Assumptions

A testable concept

Complexity

An actionable path forward

Whether you need to align leaders, make a difficult decision, understand customers, test an idea, redesign a workflow, or create a practical plan, we can design the right engagement to help your team move forward.
